The SOLIDWORKS Collision Detection command allows designers to quickly find and fix colliding components when moving or rotating a component. This command can be used to detect collisions in an entire assembly or you can narrow down your focus and just look at a selected group of components that you are interested in.
This video blog describes the uses of the Collision Detection command and explores some of its advanced options and modifiers.
Interested in a related tutorial? Learn about a tool often used in conjunction with the Collision Detection tool, called the Interference Detection tool. While the Collision Detection tool is useful in assemblies with moving parts, the Interference Detection tool is a static command that is run when a mechanism is in a fixed position.
