How to Modify a Stand-Alone License to a SolidNetWork License

Written by The Alignex Team | March 28, 2017 at 6:56 PM

To achieve greater flexibility for floating a license between users or to allow for scaling, we recommend modifying a Stand-Alone license to a SolidNetWork License (SNL). Follow the steps below to change individual SOLIDWORKS computers from Stand-Alone to operate on the License Network.

From Client Computer (Non - Administrator):

STEP 1: With SOLIDWORKS open - Navigate to the help drop down menu and select Deactivate Licenses...

STEP 2: Select your products and enter your email address then click Next.

STEP 3: Select the Finish button to complete.

STEP 4: Navigate to Start menu and click Control Panel.

STEP 5: From the Control Panel, select Uninstall a program (this allows us to access SOLIDWORKS settings beyond uninstall).

STEP 6: Select SOLIDWORKS in the programs list and choose Change.

STEP 7: Choose Modify the Individual Install (on this computer) and click Next.

STEP 8: Enter the new Network License Number.

STEP 9: Select desired products and click Next.

STEP 10: Select Modify Now to continue Install.

STEP 11: Enter Port info of the Network License Administrator (so this seat can communicate to it) and select OK - Default is (25734@server).

STEP 12: Click Finish to complete the conversion to the Network License.
